Get 1 % Better Everyday

In order for your child to IMPROVE QUICKLY and not get OVERWHELMED with the competition they need to focus on two things.

-High Effort

&

-Improvement

It’s great to celebrate the wins, but make sure you celebrate your child’s efforts independent of the results. Results can not always be controlled but giving a good effort can. So help them focus on going as hard as they can on the mat!

Whether your child wins or loses help them to reflect on what they did good and what they can do better. Instead of letting them make excuses on why the lost or won.

[Sometimes even we might make excuses for our children to make them feel better.]

After your child’s next competition have him reflect on all his matches to see where they can improve and make a game plan with clear action steps to do so.

BONUS TIP:

If your kid gets very emotional from loses, have him watch a more composed teammates compete to help show him how to respond to loses.
